Pre-Care Instructions

  1. Do not take aspirin, prescription blood thinners, ibuprofen, fish oils, vitamin E, and niacin 48 hours before your appointment.

  2. Do not drink alcohol at least 48 hours before your procedure. Avoid caffeine 24 hours before your procedure.

  3. Discontinue use of Vitamin A skincare products (Retin-A, retinol) close to the enhancement area 2 weeks before your procedure.

  4. Discontinue use of AHA (chemical exfoliation) skincare products close to the area being tattooed at least a couple of days prior to your procedure.

  5. If you have lip filler, please let your artist know how long ago it was done. A minimum of 1-2 months post-filler is required before getting this procedure done.

  6. Avoid direct sun exposure to the tattooed area for at least 10-14 days before and after your appointment. Do not have sunburned lips at your appointment.

  7. If you have been on prescription Accutane, you MUST wait at least one year before considering this procedure.

  8. If you are prone to cold sores, please drink antiviral pills before your procedure.

  9. Bring your favorite lip colors or save some pictures of colors you like.

  10. Make sure your lips are prepared. Moisturize and exfoliate your lips for your session.

Post-Care Instructions

  1. Gently cleanse your lips at night with a gentle cleanser and warm water to prevent the build up of lymph. Pat dry. Repeat the next morning. Excess lymph contributes to lots of scabbing. After you cleanse the morning after, keep your lips dry from any liquids until the all the scabs have fallen off.

  2. If needed, apply a clean, cold compress on the first day to help reduce swelling and soreness.

  3. On day three after the procedure, lips will begin to peel/flake/scab and the color will start to become lighter. DO NOT pick at scabs as this can pull out pigment and result in uneven healed results.

  4. Apply a small amount of ointment 2-3 times per day with a clean cotton swab. Only use ointment when needed, and do not let your lips become too dry.

  5. You may experience color changes throughout the healing process. This includes patchiness and sometimes the disappearance of pigment in your lips. New tissue is forming on your lips and the color will come back. Trust the process!

  6. Avoid soaking and getting your lips submerged in water.

  7. Avoid direct sun exposure to the tattooed area for at least 10-14 days after your appointment.

FAQ’S

  • Lip Blush or Dark Lip Color Correction usually last 1.5 - 2 years depending on your skin type and lifestyle.

  • You and your technician will always have a consultation before the procedure. There you can discuss your desired shape, color, and intensity of your lip color.

  • We offer numbing cream before and during the procedure. However, since the pain level is usually 3 out of 10, most of our clients prefer to go without numbing since it is easier and quicker to apply ink into the skin.

  • If you get lip filler, we require a minimum wait of 1 month before your Lip Blush appointment. We recommend getting your permanent lip enhancement before filler. Once your lips have fully healed, then you can get filler.

  • You and your artist will discuss which colors suit you based on your natural lip color. Once your lips have healed, you may still enhance or change the color of your lips at any time with conventional makeup. Your new lips are designed to act as a base color, so don’t throw out your lipstick collection.

  • The healing process takes around 5-7 days.
